Katherine Heigl
was born in Washington, DC, on November 24, 1978Following a number of commercials and modeling assignments for Sears and Lord & Taylor, she made her big-screen debut in That Night (1992), which starred Juliette Lewis and C. Thomas Howell. It was then that she realized that acting rather than modeling was her passion. In 1993 Katherine appeared in Steven Soderbergh's critically acclaimed Depression-era drama King of the Hill (1993), before landing her first leading role as a rebellious teenager alongside Gérard Depardieu in My Father the Hero (1994). During this time Katherine continued to attend New Canaan High School, balancing her academic studies with work on films and modeling, which she undertook during holidays, vacations and weekends. In 1995, she played Sarah Ryback, the niece of Steven Seagal's character, in Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995), which was her "debut" in the action film genre. Acting was now becoming a stronger focus for Katherine, although she still modeled extensively, appearing regularly in magazines such as "Seventeen." Television appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (1992) and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" (1993) soon followed, before she took the lead role in Disney's Wish Upon a Star (1996) in 1996. It was also during that year that Katherine's parents divorced and, following her graduation from high school in 1997, she moved with her mother into a four-bedroom house in Los Angeles' Malibu Canyon area. This enabled her to focus upon acting with the guidance and support of her mother, who now managed her career. Rumors have been rampant lately that "Grey's Anatomy" character Izzie Stevens, played by Katherine Heigl, will have a brain tumor when the show returns in the fall.
However "Grey's Anatomy" executive producer Shonda Rhimes says the rumors are not true.
According to E! Online, Rhimes has said viewers can expect some "interesting sparks" between Alex and Izzie following their season finale hookup.
The rest of the "Grey's Anatomy" characters will also have plenty of drama to deal with outside of the hospital. Even though Meredith and Derek reunited last season, Shimes said not to expect the tumultuous Seattle Grace doctors to settle down.
"It's really exciting to see what's going to come next and how [Meredith's] going to deal with living with a boy, and all the things a man like Derek, who has been married and is a grown-up, might expect," Rhimes said.
Another romance to keep an eye on: Callie and Erica, who will continue to explore their relationship. "They are definitely on a journey, and it's going to be a really interesting one...also both actresses are so game; they're so willing to do something," says Rhimes.
New faces will also appear at Seattle Grace this season. Scottish actor Kevin McKidd (of "Journeyman") will join the cast as a military doctor who comes to the hospital on leave, and will possibly be a love interest for Sandra Oh's Cristina, who spent most of last season in a funk following fiancé Preston Burke's departure. Says Rhimes, "I think Cristina might find him fairly interesting."
Heigl was once in a relationship with Roswell costar Jason Behr but that relationship ended around the time the series ended.[44][7] In June 2006, she became engaged to singer Josh Kelley, whom she met on the set of his music video for "Only You."[45] They were married on December 23, 2007 in Park City, Utah. For their honeymoon they went to the Esperanza resort in Cabo San Lucas. In December 2007, Heigl and Kelley moved into a new home in Los Feliz, California. At the end of 2007, Barbara Walters named Heigl one of the "The 11 Most Fascinating People of 2007 " on an ABC program of that title. Heigl questioned her inclusion on the list, saying that in fact she is actually "quite boring.....not, just kidding, but really".[46] Heigl is a chain smoker. She also is a heavy supporter of organ donation

'Too Busy' For Children
Katherine Heigl has no plans to start a family with husband Josh Kelley just yet, because the pair is "too busy" to consider parenthood.
The "Grey's Anatomy" star married singer/songwriter Kelley in December, but the couple insist they are currently too focused with their careers to try for children.
Heigl tells People.com, "It's nothing that we're talking about right now.
We're pretty busy."
And Kelley, 28, also claims his top priority is his music: "I've been trying to tour a little less. Basically by touring less, I've been making more music."
